Whatever happens, the Trump presidency is over.

Win or lose, Trump never had much interest in the job in the first place.

Take heart America, we’re about to wake up from our national nightmare. Last night, as Trump left the last debate stage, he took his ambitions with him. For Trump, the whole game is to win. If he wins he’ll have achieved the only goal he cares about. If he loses, he’ll just shrug off the loss and go find someplace else to be percieved as a winner.

The day after the November 3rd election, the White House will be a ghost town. Trump will be playing golf. If he loses he’ll go play golf. If he wins he’ll go play golf. Either way. He never had all that much interest in the job, and the day after the election, in his narrow perception of things, the job is over. He’ll have nothing else to work for.

Policy goals? Trump never cared for policy. Attacking Democrats? Why? What’s the point? MAGA rallies? Forget those. At the best of times he’s been disdainful of his base. I mean, he’ll need an audience for ratings on Trump TV, but that doesn't mean he has to be in the same room with them.

Nobody can tell Trump what to do, so he’ll do what he really loves to do — play golf, hang out at his clubs. eat.
