Trump 2020 strategy: Don’t Build Wall.

The last thing Trump wants to do is build his wall. He’s fully aware his little national emergency means he doesn't have to do a damn thing about the wall, but it gives him a year worth of base-bait and that serves his purpose well. His sole purpose being, get re-elected. Within a week of being re-elected, Trump will tee it up and that’s pretty much the last we’ll hear of him.

All he needs to do is win one more time. Winning is everything. Literally. There’s nothing else. No need to govern, no need for a legacy or to deliver anything to anyone. Win and Mar-a-Largo here he comes. The Ultimate Winner. Beached on the Florida coast, a mere golf cart ride from the first tee. Mission accomplished.

So break it down. It’s February 2019. The national emergency will take most of the year to work its way to the Supreme Court, then the Justices will need another 90 days or so, and we’re in the first quarter of 2020. No matter what the decision is, it’s meat for Trump 2020. Win and it’s a campaign of he’s a winner building the wall. Lose and it’s a whole campaign of Democrats want open borders.

I’m talking Trump world, not reality, of course. Reality is in 2018 Trump lobbed bomb after bomb at Democrats on the border issues, lied and scammed and ranted and carvaned his way to a resounding trouncing at the ballot box. Any other politician would have cut bait and moved on, but Trump has limited imagination. In his fevered brain he won in 2016 with Build The Wall, so he can win in 2020 with Finish The Wall.
