Silver Linings of 2020.

There has to something good, right?

Silence. I live in Manhattan. Silence is a premium. I walked down avenues of silence in 2020.

Air. I saw bright blues skies. I saw crystal clear days.

Time. I had lots of it. I wrote twelve scripts. I published two books of poetry. I created three music videos. I recorded ten new songs.

The price of my silence, my air, my time is horrendous. Hundreds of thousands of my neighbors suffocating. Millions ill.

The year changes tonight. The silver linings were a wisp of smoke in a hurricane. I hold the few gifts given to me this year tucked away in my heart, wrapped in the overwhelming tragedy of 2020.

Nonetheless, I wish for a world of peace for 2021. I wish love rains down on our heads. I wish we all get to splash in mud and spray-paint joy on brick walls. I wish music and dance and delicious meals. That is the world we deserve. Happy New Year.
