Phone banking for Biden. My friend has a conversation with a farmer in Nebraska. It’s about burning tractors.
I guess a farmer found his tractor burning and blames somebody from the ‘city’ going out to the country and burning the tractor of a Trump supporter.
The conversation ends by the farmer saying liberals just don’t represent his values. That’s a two-way street. So where does that leave us? At the end of the road.
No matter how many rallies Trump has he will never get the America he wants. I should say the America his supporters want. Who knows what Trump wants?
There’s never going to be an America where women are proscribed by Christians to adhere to Christian practice. Where gender rights are proscribed by a 3000 year old text from the Middle East. Where science is put in the corner with a dunce hat on. Where the health of the nation is secondary to the Hamptons McMansion of an investment banker whose annual bonus equals the lifetime earnings of a majority of American families.
There may be a nation like that, but it won’t be the one we now have. And that is the core message I wish had permeated that rattling noise of the condo salesman’s campaign. It’s impossible to bridge tbe divide in today’s America. There’s no Donald Trump America in our future. It will never come to pass.
Good luck, America. I have served you my whole life. My vote is already cast. But so is the fate of the nation.
