Don’t worry, you can always edit your reputation profile.

I got this email today. An offer to edit my reputation profile. Generous.

I’m not a young man so I have quite a long reputation. It includes divorce, failed business, judgements, litigations, debt, health issues. Are you human? Well, you probably have your own list. But now I have the chance to edit all that. It’s a wonder.

What’s interesting to me is my reputation profile only includes negative things about me. I’ve written some hit songs, some cool jingles, made good friends, have great kids, I’m funny, have a decent voice, play guitar, flute, Celtic bouzouki, I can cook, paint, write novels, songs, poems, and keep letters written to me in a shoe box.

But that’s not my ‘reputation.’ So what is? My reputation is how others have judged me. I guess. I mean it’s a guess. But it has to be something like that, right?

At least I hope that’s what it is because I decided long ago what other people think of me is worthless, and a lot more about them than me.

I believe every human has boundless creativity within, but only those who listen solely to their own voice rise to artristy.

So, emailer, you keep my reputation profile. I wouldn’t want to edit it anyway. I earned every sin. And your roster of who I am is barely a percent of my humanity.
